Celebrity Weekend Weddings

Nobody does a wedding quite like a celebrity.  Model Molly Sims married producer Scott Stuber this past Saturday in a quiet ceremony in the Napa Valley.

Molly wore a Marchesa gown while the groom wore Tom Ford.  In attendance were actors including Neil Patrick Harris, Will Farrell and John C. Reilly.  Artists like Ed Ruscha and David LaChapelle showed face and design stars such as Monique Lhuillier also turned out for the event.

Congrats to the newlyweds!

Elizabeth Taylor’s Wedding Dress To Be Auctioned

Elizabeth Taylor's collection of designer clothing will be sold at Christie's auction in New York, according to Reuters.  Her wardrobe consists of haute couture pieces from designers like Chanel, Christian Dior and Yves St. Laurent.  Amongst the items that will be auctioned off is the chiffon wedding dress Taylor wore for her first wedding to actor Richard Burton.

The auction is scheduled to take place from December 13 to December 16.  Christie's curator, Meredith Etherington-Smith, described the fashion items as "a highly personal collection" adding that many of the pieces in this lifetime collection are couture, meaning they were custom made by designers who became her close friends.

A portion of the proceeds from exhibitions related to the auction will be donated to the Elizabeth Taylor Aids Foundation.

Special Events Add A Competitive Edge

miami special events

The steady influx of new clubs over the past few years has made the nightlife industry as competitive as ever.  A studio 54 spokesperson said that while this might be good for club-goers, it's not so great for nightclubs vying for the hottest entertainment for their venue.

Places like Miami are known for their themed events and star studded parties.  The recent openings of new clubs in downtown Fort Lauderdale and South Beach are forcing promoters to enlist the help of Miami special event planners to come up with fresh ideas that will lend them a competitive edge.

Special events like the annual White Party or downtown West Palm Beach's Respectables Street 80's Prom draw in some of the largest crowds clubs have ever seen giving club-goers a reason to attend one club over another.

Themed Events Are All The Rage

Special events can be a lot of fun and a wonderful experience.  Since being featured on multiple MTV reality shows, the themed special event has been extremely popular particularly among the social elite.

Everything from black and white parties, to beach themed events, and themed corporate meetings these new spins have provided event planners with a new outlet for their creativity.

Themed events are great because it provides an automatic way for guests to be involved since they will normally have to abide by a certain dress code or be asked to bring an addition to the special event.  It is instant guest engagement.

Leslie Rowe Events specializes in special event planning and will work with you every step of the way to ensure that you get exactly what you want; from conception to completion.

Groomsmen Gifts

There is no doubt that the wedding industry has changed dramatically over the past few decades. These changes aren't only affect brides-to-be, but grooms-to-be as well.  The men are getting in on the action too!  A change that we've seen recently are the gifts that are being given to the groomsmen.

One of the most popular groomsmen gifts are, believe it or not, Rayban Wayfarers.  That's right, the sunglasses.  These are especially popular for weddings that are taking place outdoors.

Some grooms are taking the gift one step further and are getting the sunglasses engraved with the date of the wedding or secret messages.

Designer Profile: Vera Wang

A name synonymous with weddings is the one and only Vera Wang. A native New Yorker, Vera spent her career reinventing the bridal industry time and time again beginning in 1990 with the opening of her flagship salon in New York City.

In 2005, Vera was honored by the Council of Fashion Designers of America.  She was named "Womenswear Designer of the Year."  Known for her nonchalant approach to style, Vera's ready-to-wear collections are filled with her signature layering and draping effects, as well as her unparalleled attention to detail.

Vera Wang is more than just a brand, it is a lifestyle.  With that said, Vera Wang is a very pricey lifestyle.  Vera's wedding dresses sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars.  Check out our Vera Wang gallery…
